Machine tool principal axis is the main shaft. Different types of machine, spindle work conditions are not the same. According to spindle work load size and type can be divided into four categories:
(1) the light axis. Work load is small, is unlikely to impact load, shaft neck wear is not serious, such as the lathe spindle. This type of axis generally 45 steel-made, after quenched and tempered or normalizing, at the request of wear-resisting parts of high-frequency surface hardening.
(2) in the spindle. Medium loads wear is more serious, have a certain impact load, such as Milling spindle. General alloy quenched and tempered steel, 40Cr steel, quenched, wear parts for surface hardening.
(3) heavy duty spindle. Work load, wear and impact are more serious, such as work load combination machine tool spindles. Generally made of 20CrMnTi steel after carburizing and quenching treatment.
(4) high precision spindle. Some spindle work load is not large, but accuracy is very high, after heat treatment deformation should be minimal. Work wear in the process should be minimal, such as precision boring machine spindle. Made of 38CrMoAlA special nitrided steel for general use, after quenching and tempering, nitriding and stable processing.
